I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the dynamics of power and its impact on those both inside and outside of my sphere of influence. Furthermore, I have noticed that those within my sphere seem to hold a genuine respect for my guidance, decision-making abilities, and role within our governance structure, and have been agreeable with the direction I am striving for.

I've not only been positioned into a new leadership role but I also feel empowered to lead with a heightened sense of conviction and a more impactful presence.

As a new board chair of a multigenerational family foundation, I have been learning a lot about the nuances of my role. During our time together thus far, I have learned to see the “big picture” more effectively, to understand how family dynamics play a pivotal role in our work and must be recognized and addressed in order to function at a higher level, to think through multiple outcomes so I am prepared to not let a decision-making process get hijacked or irreparably off track and to do front end work that narrows the field of decision-making so that the board can focus on alignment around a decision as opposed to getting lost in opinions and litigation around the topic.

I now see myself as a stronger facilitator and more able to acknowledge the power dynamics that are in play. Knowing there are subtle ways to shift toward more equity of voice and influence has been an important growth point

Rebecca has worked with our full board (individually & collectively) to make us more attuned to the habits that impede our success in achieving clarity and alignment around important decisions. She has the trust of our board and is taking many intentional steps to maximize our work and keep both family and philanthropy as the cornerstones for why we show up to do the work in the first place.

I worked with Rebecca for a very intensive period over the course of a year of a year and a half or so. It was crucial to me to have someone who had a background in mental health but also understood some of the intricacies of inherited wealth and family systems. Above all, I found that her knowledge of these areas really helped me to have the most fully integrated support. I felt Rebecca’s understanding of my entire system was the real key to making tremendous progress.

After we completed our work I felt I was able to move ahead on so many areas that had previously had a sort of “log jam” despite putting in a tremendous amount of work in the past to try to address the issues. I am able to identify road blocks, attempts at manipulation, have a better understanding of other people’s motivation, have improved boundaries and am generally more organized and effective in my work. I am a better advocate for myself now and am much more adept at strategizing steps I need to take to accomplish my goals so I can focus on the highest priorities.

I have been set free in a lot of ways since my work with Rebecca. I have so much more clarity about the bigger impacts of these resources on many parts of my life and have a developing road map to help me consider where I would like to be and how to get there. Seeking support around our philanthropy and property ownership to allow us more space and time for our “real lives” a well as placing boundaries around unhealthy family relationships are key pieces that have started to fall into place.

I have been able to take the skills and insight gained from my sessions with Rebecca and apply them in numerous areas. I feel fully confident to move forward and integrate what I’ve learned and apply it to multiple systems… from business to family systems.

In our work so far, we’re really beginning to see the strengths and fault lines where change needs to happen. I’m gaining a better awareness of my leadership and identity as well as power and influence within the family ecosystem, and where I need to work on changing/adapting to a different approach with family members, especially my younger peers who have real leadership potential.

I am more aware of everyone in the room. I am used to taking over and moving as fast as possible. I am learning to take a step back, listen, and identify when to share my thoughts and when they are most effective to share. I am also learning how to be okay with the “agree to disagree” principle and letting things that aren’t significant go. I tend to want to make sure everyone feels happy during our meetings, but the reality is passion will bring out frustrations and I have to be okay with others feeling frustrated or upset at times.

I have considered myself influential based on my experience leading other groups, however with this family foundation board role, I felt like I had way more to learn than what I had to offer. Your work with us has led me to realize what my strengths are and I am learning how to empower that as a local , place based, independent director. I am accustomed to being a fierce leader that goes all in, headfirst and brings everyone along for the ride. I am learning to slow down and be more strategic in my thinking and learning to listen to all the perspectives of the decision-makers before deciding on an issue.

Our work with you has really impacted the way things have been done for the last decade or more, especially in a meeting setting. Since our work with you, things have really kicked into gear and pushed us as a whole board to make the changes that are talked about so often.

My impact has a few different dimensions. In my part of the business, I’m the main salesperson, and the main representative of our organization to the field; I help shape its reputation and extend its reach. Internally, I help set the tone and the culture, helping people grow and supporting them in getting our work done well.

Over the course of the past year, Rebecca has guided me toward a number of useful realizations: that my self-perception is incompatible with my role; that if you want to make personal changes, you need to actually work at them, build an agenda, create accountability measures, and track toward them; that inspiration is a skill that can be practiced, built, and honed. Many of these things seem obvious in retrospect, but it’s so rare to have the dedicated time and space, and the coaching, to reflect on these things and to work at them. I’m really grateful to Rebecca for her help; she’s constantly in the back of my mind, helping guide the work I’m doing.

My growth has been, first and foremost, about taking the reins: being active in managing time; recognizing that I have agency (and responsibility) in how I engage with my teammates; reengaging the kinds of client-facing tactics I use to manage my work for my own internal processes.

I’ve noticed that I listen more closely; that I’m able to rein in some of my initial, sometimes over-intense reactions. What’s become more apparent to me isn’t my relationship to power, but practicing more delicate use of power, especially when it comes to how I give feedback. That’s been a mindset shift. We also made some solid progress on my relationship to time, and how to better manage it.

We’ve helped to bring out the emotional core that underlies some of the things I’m working on, which helps to clarify my relationship with it. I’m more aware of the emotional core of my leadership – both its strengths and its issues. Trust—how to build it, how to repair it when it’s broken—has become a central tenet.

Before meeting Rebecca, I viewed myself as an adept operator, proficient in the nuts and bolts of my role. Rebecca pulled back the curtain on an entirely new approach to power dynamics. My perception of power has significantly shifted through our work together. This revelation made me realize I was not just the central player on the field but could be the conductor everyone looked to for guidance. The change is not just in my perception; it is palpable in every meeting I enter, every decision I make, and how I interact with my team.

I find satisfaction in leading. It is not the happiness rooted in control but in the ability to shape outcomes and guide a collective vision. These insights have reshaped my understanding of power as a tool for influence and a vehicle for meaningful impact.

My growth as a leader has been nothing short of transformative, and for this metamorphosis, Rebecca deserves all the credit.

I am keeping the growth engine of the company turning. As a player-coach I lead my team to achieving the company goals and objectives, while also being in the trenches and being an individual contributor to our success. Through our coaching work, I have performed better at creating high performance teams and helping people achieve their objectives, while not sacrificing my health and wellbeing. I take a lot of pride in this.

I am a more balanced person, in a better position to continually offer assistance, guidance, and advice to my teams.

As a whole, this work has set me free to operate on a different level, I am calmer and more purposeful. Understanding my relationship to power has created a fundamental shift in the way I think about navigating relationships and what I can achieve in both my career and in my life.

I came to work with Rebecca after my father passed away as I needed support and guidance to step into my new role as trustee and fiduciary of our family trust. Rebecca has helped me navigate this process with the utmost care and sensitivity.

Initially my goal was to become comfortable with my new role as fiduciary/trustee and over time as I have become more comfortable with this role, I have been able to address other aspects of my life in regard to relationship with my partner, my relationship to money, work, and wellness as well as build a very solid advisory team to support and guide me.

I was terrified of the meaning of power and how I could possibly step into becoming a powerful woman when I began our work together. I was very comfortable deferring to others to make decisions for me for most of my life. Through some hard work and because of Rebecca’s exquisite understanding and awareness of power, I can confidently say I have stepped into and am owning my power which supports me making clear, well thought out decisions.

When I began my work with Rebecca, I felt like I was in boot camp to learn a new language. I can laugh now because the words medallion signatures, trust certifications, securities, and positions, 706’s etc. are my “new normal” in conversations. I also have been able to include my partner in many of these conversations and together with the help of Rebecca’s coaching, we are learning how to discuss wealth and money and how we will make healthy financial decisions together.

Rebecca has become a household staple in my family. We couldn’t have made the progress we have, both individually and as a couple, without her. I have become a stronger “I” and a healthier “we” in my relationship and I have learned how to become a fiduciary/trustee and so much more in our work together.

I came to a better understanding of power in a relationship- my power, my partner’s power, and the power of us together. I understood that leadership would shift back and forth but I needed to understand the concept wisely to be able to fully participate. I was a leader in my work life but have become a better one in my relationship from the work with Rebecca.

The second round of work is just beginning and more focused on money. After only one session I felt I had clarity of the questions I should be asking myself and the relationship. It was shocking how quickly the work highlighted the immediate focus and I could move into thinking about the money questions. Rebecca’s experience in working with people with money and about money was evident immediately.

I am confident that I am going to learn, grow and expand my relationship to money and how it operates in my life and how it challenges me and hinders me. I know that my partner and I will struggle in the work to understand what we need to do to clarify our needs and wants together but we will come out with a plan that will satisfy us and create fair compromises. I will understand her new wealth and what it means to her and how it changes us, and that we will become more of a team to build a joint relationship to money and wealth together.

The work is challenging but I am confident that there are and will be more answers and my partner and I will work though the maze together with Rebecca.
